General Guidelines and Requirements
The Philippine Journal of Development (PJD) welcomes original research that contributes to the understanding and advancement of development-related issues in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region. Manuscripts submitted to the PJD undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure that they meet the standards before publication. Authors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the PJD’s guidelines, formatting requirements, review procedures, and ethical policies before submitting a manuscript.
The PJD accepts manuscripts through its Online Submission System. The editorial management conducts an initial screening to ensure that the submission adheres to the journal’s scope. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s standards may be returned to the authors for revision before further review. Authors should ensure that their manuscripts align with the PJD' primary areas of interest, including but not limited to:

Submission Conditions
- Submissions must be original and unpublished.
- Manuscripts must not be under consideration elsewhere at the time of submission.
- Any related or prior publications must be disclosed to the editorial management upon submission.

Copyright and Licensing Policy
Self-Archiving and Repository Policy
Authors may deposit the final accepted manuscript (postprint) or the published article (Version of Record) in institutional, subject, or public repositories for noncommercial use.
The posted version must clearly indicate that it is published under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license. Authors must provide a full citation to the original publication in the PJD and include a link to the license.
Manuscript Preparation
Research Articles
Manuscripts must be typed double‑spaced and accompanied by an abstract of no more than 500 words. The full text of the manuscript should not exceed 8,000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures.
Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format, using Times New Roman, 11‑point font, and double spacing throughout. Authors should ensure that the manuscript is clearly structured, with logical section divisions such as Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, as appropriate to the study.
All tables, charts, and illustrations must be clearly labeled, numbered sequentially, and referenced in the text. Tables and figures should be submitted in an editable format (e.g., Excel for tables and graphs).
Book Reviews
Book reviews are also accepted. The theme or topic of the book should fall within the scope of articles published in the PJD.
Book reviews must be typed double‑spaced and should not exceed 1,500 words. Reviews should be submitted in electronic format and provide a critical assessment of the book’s contribution to development research or policy.

All manuscripts must be submitted in electronic format. Authors must adhere to the PIDS Style and Usage Guidelines, which apply to all PIDS‑published works, to ensure consistency in formatting, citation, and structure. Key formatting requirements include the following:
- Articles should not be more than 8,000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures.

- The PJD follows the Chicago Manual of Style for in-text citations and reference lists. Authors should include all the sources used in writing the manuscript. Only sources cited in the text must be included in the References list.

The Philippine Journal of Development (PJD) is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal published biannually by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). It serves as a platform for disseminating policy-oriented research on development issues, including the economy, business, public administration, foreign relations, sociology, and political dynamics.
