The Critical Role of Trade and Industrial Statistics in Policy Formulation

Abstract

This paper is presented at the Third National Convention on Statistics on December 13-14, 1982. The move to strengthen the Philippine economic statistics comes at a very opportune time when the Philippine government is implementing a major industrial restructuring program. While each ministry has developed its own information system, analysis indicates the need for an integrated approach to the collection and analysis of information relating to trade and industry.
